One Saturday morning in July, we woke up without any plans. The kids snuggled up together in our bed and watched a few cartoons while we got ready for the day. The sweetest scene ...
The only thing that needed to be done that day was for me to return this lens that I rented to take hospital pictures of my new nephews. What better to do with the few hours I had left with it than to take picture in a beautiful blueberry patch. And a selfie! ;)
We've never gone berry picking with our kids before so this was a new adventure and both of them were so excited! My only mistake was not packing enough snacks in the car because it was a bit of a drive. I guess the plus side was that they showed up hungry and it was an "eat all you want while you pick" kind of experience. I know a certain little someone who REEEEALLY took advantage of that perk! ;) Both kids got to carry their own buckets and we were off ...
This little lady had no more than a handful of berries in her bucket at one time, mostly green with stems still attached.
She'd carefully pull one from a branch and pop it in her mouth ...
or maybe five! ;)
Then there was Liam ... inspecting each individual berry to ensure we were only going home with the "perfect" ones! I adore his attention to detail.
I'd ask her to show me what she found and this is the series of faces she'd make, cutie pie ...
Liam loves this batman necklace he got from one of his primary teachers at church and these Batman/Avenger slap bracelets. He's worn them every day for a couple weeks now. It makes me smile to see the things they love and that they both are always authentic to themselves ... something I wish was more easily carried into adulthood.
I think she tripped and dropped her bucket 3 different times while we were there. haha
Lyla found some random red earring that she wouldn't let go of. We made her give it back at the end and there was a tantrum and not enough blueberries to bring her back from that one!
After picking for a while she found the perfect spot in the shade and ate what was left in her bucket that she hadn't spilled. ;)
At the end, we combined Liam's hard work with ours and left with this big bag of the most delicious blueberries I think I've ever had!
I can hardly wait to go again next year, it was so much fun!!
