I'll admit, Liam's preschool graduation took a little bit of patience for me. For whatever reason (nerves, over stimulation, fear, anxiety?) something kicked in for him and as the rest of his class walked out holding the flag high and taking their seats in front of their parents, he hid in his classroom. As much as his teacher tried to coax him out he became emotional and refused to participate. I had to set my expectations aside and he sat next to us while his class sang.
When it came time for his teacher to read all about him and give him that adorable candy leis around his neck, he finally worked up the courage to stand up in front of everyone.
This is what she read about him ...
Everyone was shocked to hear his favorite food is a banana! haha
After reading about each kid, they got to choose their favorite song they sang during the school year and Liam chose "Down by the Bay". He laughs historically every time he gets to the part "have you ever seen a moose, kissing a goose, down by the bay!" haha
She showed the cutest slideshow of all the fun things they did, crafts they made, and field trips they went on together during the school year.
Ms. Amber and her son, Everett, (who is the little boy on the left in the picture below) were such a blessing to me and Liam this year as we moved to a new city. I found her preschool last minute in a rush to have a school for Liam in September. She miraculously had one opening left she was needing to fill and it felt like the perfect fit. She is so kind and patient with Liam. She's helped him master his entire alphabet and he has made a best friend in her son, Everett.
As this school year ended it was a hard decision whether or not to stay. Between Everett going to Kindergarten and not being in Liam's class next year, buying a house across town from the preschool and needing to commute in crazy traffic, and having a desire for Liam to make friends who will eventually go to his elementary school we decided to switch preschools for next year. We will miss them so much but are thankful for their continued friendship and play dates!
I'm so proud of you Liam for not only how much you learned during your second year of preschool but for how brave you were making a whole group of new friends! We love you so much!!
