I'm pretty sure I say this about every holiday but I think Easter might be one of my favorites. :) There is nothing more adorable than watching these two practically tripping over their giant baskets swinging wildly from one hand as they race around the yard to collect the most eggs. Kind of like Christmas morning, so much excitement in those little bodies and thrilled over the littlest things like a single jelly bean.
Easter was different this year with Covid. We missed family and attending church so much but the extra drop by visits with surprise Easter baskets on the porch and gathering around our piano singing church hymns about Jesus made it special.
As our kids have gotten a little bit older, I've loved teaching them all about Passover week in the days leading up to Easter. This year we started a new tradition of having a Last Supper meal on Good Friday where I made a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses. I'd like to keep branching out to more traditional foods they ate back then as my kids grow more willing to try new things. I'm certain Jesus ate his food with rainbow napkins too. ;)
On Easter morning we woke up and had bunny pancakes for breakfast! How cute is that banana tail?!
Grandma Edie gave them their Eater surprises early and these adorable color placemats were one of them. They loved decorating while I cooked breakfast and I loved that they weren't swirling around my feet. haha p.s. Yes, those are Christmas pajamas on Easter morning.
After breakfast we put on our Easter outfits and had our home church service. Not before having a small indoor Easter egg hunt to tide them over, of course. Candy makes church that much better! ;)
When we finally let them go outside they both were so overwhelmed that they would spot 10 different eggs and pass 9 of them to get to 1. haha Nic followed closely behind in fear Lyla was going to trip on those rocks.
Their baskets were quickly overflowing and we had to grab an extra bag. I have a hilarious video of Liam grabbing an egg, dropping an egg, grabbing another egg, dropping another egg. I love this picture of these two!
I adored her Easter dress this year. Sweetest girl!
We forgot to burry our magical jelly beans but suckers grew in our flower bed anyway ...
The cutest surprise face when she found an egg in this wreath ...
Also on the front porch, the Easter bunny left their baskets and brought me that cute wreath and doormat!!
So many fun surprises!
Liam started screaming "POKEMON CARDS!!!" and Lyla grabbed her basket and ran! haha
We ran inside to open their baskets!
"Momma, awww, a tute bunny!"
"Mom, look at my holographic!"
The sweetest reactions while pulling out their surprises, even Lyla's with her clothes ...
Sticking her tongue out like a puppy ... I got both kids one of these from a kitchen store. Now every day it is, "mom, I want a nutella sandwich monster or puppy pancake". :)
Tucking in her bunny ...
The kids made these bunny cards with their pictures on them for their daddy and other family members. It made me smile when my Grandma Jan sent me a message that she taped hers to her walker and showed off her great grandchildren to her friends. How cute is that?!
Testing out their Easter presents ... Liam LOVED excavating that egg with a stone inside!
Lyla got a barbie that had 5 puppies for her to take care of. One of which you could give it water in a bottle and it would pee on this little newspaper it came with and turn the dang thing yellow. haha Who is this Easter bunny?!
Being a sweet big brother and giving his sister a turn ...
These goofballs! It's my favorite that Lyla has hers upside down!
I'll cherish this self timer front porch picture of our family. During a time when home is keeping us safe from the world and giving us a place to grow together.
Surprises from Sita!
The perfect amount of wind for kite flying!
