Boy does it feel like a Monday ... I'm nursing a major headache today and can't tell if it's a cold coming on or what but I know I need to make this brief. I finally got all the photos backed up on my computer (thanks to my sweet husband) and am currently neck deep in erasing some because my storage is completely full and hasn't let me open Photoshop in daaaays (hence the lack of blog posts). Clearly I have a problem when it comes to the vast number of pictures I take of our children. Sorry not sorry. ;)
Before Thanksgiving gets totally behind us (Happy December by the way!), I wanted to share a quick recap of our holiday this year! We had dinner at my mom's house and dessert at my dad's! My mom wanted to squeeze in some pictures for her Christmas card and I thought they turned out pretty cute ...
It's always nice when we get to share a holiday with my brother too. It was so good to see him while he was visiting!
Liam wasn't in the mood for a family picture so we didn't force it and got one of just Lyla and I. After looking at it later, I'm not sure what happened when I handed over the camera but this particular photo ended up being very overly exposed but I had to try and salvage it as best as I could because she is the cutest in those little fox sox! ;)
A few hors d'oeuvres before the real meal started ;) ...
Liam loves this pirate ship at Sita's house ...
Besides focusing on what we are thankful for, I think we can all agree that Thanksgiving is a day of FOOD. With picky eaters in my house, I'm never really sure what Thanksgiving dinner will look like and I could tell it wasn't Liam's favorite holiday this year. haha It took him all night to work up the courage to try one bite of stuffing so that he could have dessert.
My Lyla girl has been a good eater through and through up until recently. I think her latest big growth spurt is coming to a halt and she is becoming more selective and opinionated about what she eats. So both our children ate rolls for Thanksgiving dinner. And craisins! Rolls and craisins, that's it. :) haha Sounds crazy but to me, that felt like a victory from last year where I had to make Liam an entirely separate meal because he wouldn't touch any of it. Lyla at least tried a bite of everything but the rolls won over her heart. Can't say I blame her ... Great Harvest knows how to make an incredible roll. ;)
Liam's new thing is always being in underwear. The second we get home he immediately strips off his pants to get "cozy". Something I will always remember about this Thanksgiving dinner ... right before sitting down to eat he asked me if he could wear his underwear for dinner. haha If we had been anywhere else I would have had to say no but my mom didn't care and it wasn't a battle I really wanted to fight. It's endearing really and I can't say I blame him for not wanting to wear pants to Thanksgiving dinner with all of that food.
Speaking of the food, we had the usual spread and everything tasted incredible thanks to my mom!!
We raced over to my dad and Edie's to celebrate my brother's birthday for dessert. His birthday always falls within a week (sometimes on the actual day) of Thanksgiving and we had to celebrate a little early because he wasn't going to be with us on his birthday. Caught this cute moment of Lyla's cousin Ava with her arms wrapped around her at the table so she wouldn't fall ... so sweet!! It's been one of the best things about moving here is witnessing these little cousin bonds forming and the girls adore "baby Lyla"!
While the girl cousins surround Lyla, the boy cousins surrounded the cake. Not letting it out of their sight. ;)
So cute to see them all in a row ...
Happy Birthday to my "little" brother! :)
So thankful to be surrounded by family this Thanksgiving. A very different one than the pink eye debacle of 2017. haha We have so much to be thankful for and we count every single one of our blessings every day, especially the people we love most in the world!
Cheers to the holiday season! XO
