We crossed off another summer bucket list adventure with papa (Nic's dad) at the beginning of last week ... LAGOON!!!
It was Liam's first time and he couldn't stop smiling! This was his favorite ride and the one he rode on the most by far ...
Of course we picked the hottest time of the year to go (it was mid-90's that day) so we were all drenched in sweat 2 minutes in to being there but it made for hardly any crowds and short lines! It was perfect because we discovered that was the hardest part for Liam at his current age ... waiting in lines and taking turns. Most of the rides he was able to hop right on but on the ones he had to wait there was a tantrum or two. haha He rode these boats (one of the oldest rides at the park according to FIL) and it was cute that he always picked the pink one ...
We loved having my father-in-law there with us! It made for great bonding time for these two ...
Lagoon kids' rides are a little boy's heaven ... cars, boats, airplanes, you name it. Anything you can drive, it was there!
Lyla girl's first trip to Lagoon was a little less eventful than Liam's. She ate some pizza and her first churro, practiced her walking skills a bunch, and wore herself out. Poor girl was a sticky hot mess sleeping in the 90 degree heat but look at how sweet she is!
Another ride Liam asked to go on a whole bunch so he could shoot his "beeshu" (his word for gun). He's all boy, that one!
I wish I had caught this one on video ... he was the only one on this ride and he confidently hopped into that lady bug like, "no big deal". It had a stick that you could push forward and pull back on (similar to the little red airplane in the first picture) but up until this point, he had never figured out how to work the lever. Well he got on the ride, it started up, and the lady bug immediately started jerking up and down because he kept moving the lever back and forth but he had no idea he was the one doing it! haha His face was absolutely priceless! He looked SHOCKED the whole time, in a completely freaked out sort of way!
Most of the rides he loved every minute of it but there was this egg drop one that he insisted on going on. Just looking at it I knew it wasn't going to be a good idea but there was no convincing him otherwise. It was one of those parenting moments when you know you just have to let them try it and figure it out for themselves. Luckily Nic could go on it with him but I saw that same shocked look cross his face as I watched him shoot up into the air a bit and then it dropped them and his face went to terror. He cried and kept telling Nic he wanted to get off. It was painful to watch but lesson learned. He kept telling us the rest of the day, "Sorry I didn't like that dropping ride." haha We told him that he just needed to get a little bigger and then maybe he would want to try it again someday.
He was brave enough to go on the Puff the Magic Dragon roller coaster so we wanted to see if he would go on one of the water rides with us but after watching over this bridge and never seeing a single boat sail past, we determined it was shut down for the day.
We attempted to try out Laguna Beach but after a miscommunication of where to meet after getting changed, not wanting to rent a locker for $10, and a screaming baby that people thought was probably being tortured in the bathroom, it was probably a good thing it didn't work out. haha Maybe next year!
I had every intention of getting a family picture of all of us while we were there but I don't think we stopped for a single moment between the time we got there and when we were ready to go home. It was the most fun thing we've done this summer and we owe our thanks to Liam and Lyla's Papa!
