two

Liam turned T WO on Thursday and it was such a special day celebrating our favorite boy!!! Just like his first birthday, we continued the tradition of "showering" him in balloons after he woke up! :) I think he had the same reaction as last year, startled and upset (he even said NO!), so it looks like I might need to come up with a new tradition for next year. haha Once he woke up a bit he had a blast kicking all of the "balls" around in his nursery. He was fascinated by the confetti inside.

Liam isn't always ready to dive straight into breakfast after he gets up so when he was done playing with the balloons in his room we gave him one of his presents to open. His very own tool belt to help daddy around the house!

Checking to make sure the hammer works! ;)

We made him his favorite breakfast, a banana smothered in peanut butter, and added some sprinkles on for good measure! It was so much of a hit that when he woke up Friday morning he expected to find his banana now covered with sprinkles every day and immediately pointed to the sprinkle cupboard saying "more"! I may have caved on Friday. haha Birthdays are supposed to be celebrated AT LEAST a week!

As he does every morning, he was covered in peanut butter from head to toe so we gave him his usual morning bath after breakfast. Dad is usually gone at this time but he took the day off to celebrate Liam's birthday with us so Liam had two parents to show off for with a couple of tricks in the bath (hiding behind the curtain, kicking his legs while he swam on his tummy, and tossing toys out of the tub which is not my favorite trick as you can imagine! Read: water everywhere!). It was so fun having Nic home all day!! It kind of felt a little bit like it was my birthday. ;)

We had a pretty slow morning and it was noon by the time we made it out of the house. We drove to a  nearby green belt and gave Liam his favorite gift of all, his very own bike! He absolutely adores it and does so well on it! We were both impressed with how quickly he has picked up the balance part of it.

I love his little helmet. KAZAM!

Looking like such a big boy and peaking over the edge of the bridge to see the ducks in the water below.

In the evening we met up with Grandpapa and Grandma Williamson for Liam's favorite dinner, pizza! They spoiled him with clothes, a remote control dump truck, and a scooter which he opened on Saturday! His reaction to the scooter was priceless! I will definitely have to share a video of it! Right now he just pushes it along while walking with one leg on either side or stands on it with both feet and has us push him along. The actual scooting on his own may take him some time but I have no doubt he will pick it up in the near future.

After dinner we went home and sang to the birthday boy over a stack of his favorite m&m cookies! Just as he does with every m&m cookie he ever eats, he excavated every last m&m he could find and left the cookie behind. haha So maybe next year just a bag of m&m's will do?! ;) Kidding! I was reminded by a friend at his party a couple of days later that I made the same mistake twice and that some day Liam would look back at these pictures and say, "Mom, I was supposed to have TWO candles on my cookies, not one." Oops, bad mom award. I'll remember THREE candles next year buddy.

After already practicing with birthday candles when we celebrated earlier in the month with my mom, Liam had the candle extinguishing part down this time. haha He kept wanting to blow it out before we had even finished singing to him.

See what I mean about excavating the m&m's ... haha Such a funny boy!

And just how every second birthday should end, Liam rode his bike until the sun went down ...

We took Liam for his two year check up today and were pleasantly surprised when he didn't have to get any immunizations but he did get a flu shot, poor guy. Standing there helplessly holding his hand and watching him scream breaks my heart every time. Thankfully we were in the tractor theme room so you know how that measured up to Liam's standards. ;) He had all 25 toys tractors lined up on the counter for the doctor to see when he came in the room. haha He is definitely in a stranger danger phase and cried most of the visit when the nurse and practicing doctor were doing their check ups. When our pediatrician came in though, he did great! I swear, Dr. Burton is a child whisperer. One of the many reasons we love going to him! He made bird sounds as he checked in Liam's ears and told Liam about his favorite tractors.

At his appointment he was 31 lbs., 33.5 in. tall, and takes after his dad with a head size in the 95th percentile. ;)

Two year old Liam adores riding his bike, playing with tractors, and watching Frozen, Zootopia, and Daniel Tiger. His favorite foods are pizza, bananas, peanut butter, yogurt, and apple sauce. He still avoids a lot of foods but just when I least expect it, he tries something new I offer to him and likes it (like eggs the other day!). His comprehension is incredible and his favorite words are this, bye, down, more, and ball. Basically anything that will get him what he wants! If it doesn't have any motivation attached to it, forget about it. ;) He has the most hilarious fake laugh/cough you've ever heard in your life. He is SO close to being able to open round door handles (it is freaking me out!). He loves to color, play with playdo, and cover himself from head to toe in stickers.

Liam, there isn't a single thing we don't adore about you! These last two years have gone by so incredibly fast, just as I imagine the next two will as well, but they have been filled with so many memories that we have loved sharing with you. We can't imagine our lives without you in them. You are without a doubt the best thing that every happened to us and we love you so much!!! Happy Birthday Buddy!
