Gingerbread House Contest

This tradition wasn't quite the same this year as years past. I came down with the flu the day before we were supposed to host our annual gingerbread house contest party with family and had to cancel last minute. I know everyone was bummed ... we were all looking forward to it. I went and got a rapid Covid test that day since it had been circling some of our extended family and my kids are going to school. It came back negative which I was so thankful for but I was still left feeling pretty crummy. I had crazy delirium and hallucinations.

The rest of the family participated from their own homes and sent in pictures of their creative houses. Most were sent in with a video so I don't have pictures but there were a couple of cute traditional gingerbread houses this year, an abominable snowman village, and the white house under siege.

Our kids decorated theirs on Sunday and made Santa's workshop all lit up! How cute are Mr. and Mrs. Claus?!

They had so much fun decorating it and shockingly didn't eat a single piece of candy until after it was all done!

My brother helped judge and the winner of this year's contest went to my nephew, Maddox, who made the abominable snowman village! We took him a new family game for a prize! He was thrilled! Hopefully next year everyone will be healthy and we can do it in person.
