Read for Pocatello

At the beginning of October, Liam started a monthly reading log for school. He was asked to read 15 minutes a day for the whole month. We wanted to incentivize it and encourage his reading to grow so we offered to take him on a date to do whatever he wanted if he completed the challenge. As the end of the month inched closer and he was rocking his daily reading, I asked him if he thought about what he would want to do. He started with, "I think I want the whole family to do it." I thought that was so sweet that he wanted to include his sister. Then he went on to say, "Mom, could I choose a trip for my date? I really want to go visit my grandparents and Hadley in Pocatello!" How could we possibly say no to that!

A couple weeks later, we packed up our bags for a weekend trip! It was so much fun to see and spend time with family and friends. We were spoiled with the best company and food! My father-in-law sent us home with a GIANT bag of the best homemade caramel corn. I both loved and hated him for that because I was the one who ate most of the bag. ;)

Nic's dad also got a new puppy named Bella and she was one of the highlights of the trip! She was so playful, snuggly, and loved our kids!

Lyla refused to give her any rest time and ran her ragged the whole time we were there. haha She kept stealing her heart toy and teasing her with it too. We had to remind Lyla to throw it every couple of minutes and not just play keep away. haha

She was living her dream, our puppy lover!

We met up for lunch one day with Nic's mom at a Japanese Steakhouse. Lyla was not a fan of the large amounts of fire coming from the grill in front of her. She sat on my lap the whole time and I was covered in rice by the end of the meal. haha Both kids loved the food though so that was a huge win! My mother-in-law needed a new Christmas tree so we went shopping with her at Hobby Lobby and Home Depot after that. Our kids found plenty of things to try on, look at, and generally just entertain themselves during the shopping experience.

Later that night Liam finally got to spend time with one of his best friends, Hadley! These two have so much in common and get along so well, they have since they were babies. I got to snuggle Mason and catch up with my friend, Mickenzie. It was the best! So grateful for their friendship and that we have remained so close despite moving away.

Until next time, Pocatello!
