It was tough to decide what to do for Halloween this year. We had to weigh the unknown of how many of our neighbors would be participating in trick-or-treating and the safety of it. We waited until the very last minute to decide and realized that many of our neighbors just left a bucket of candy on their doorstep this year. Those were the houses we predominantly went to and even though they didn't do much of the traditional knocking followed by a "trick-or-treat", our kids were so happy to be out there. I think we forget sometimes how hard this year was on them too and how much change they've had to go through that it felt good to do something that was normal. They were beaming after getting their costumes on and their pumpkin buckets in hand!
Happy Halloween from Llama Llama Red Pajama and Batman!!!
I got so many messages about how much of a trooper Nic must have been to wear these pajamas but you know what, he truly loves them and thinks they're so cozy. haha He wore them again on Christmas morning!
Lyla was on cloud nine that I wanted to be a llama with her!
Momma llama and baby llama ...
We went to a few different stores with Halloween costumes and Lyla completely had no interest in picking one. We tried a unicorn, a super hero like Liam, animals ... she'd say "no thank you" every time. haha Then one night while reading one of her favorite bedtime books, Llama Llama Red Pajama, I asked her if she wanted to dress up as a llama and she squealed, "YES!". She was the cutest llama I've ever seen!!
Then there's Liam ... right before his birthday he was SURE he wanted to be Batman. We bought him the costume and he was so excited to be able to wear it to his Gotham City birthday party too. Then a few weeks before Halloween he was dead set on either being Catwoman and carrying his new gems from his party with him or the Joker. haha I tried telling him they don't make a Joker villain costume for young kids because he's too creepy ... jokes on me! We were wandering the costume store and it was the first thing he saw. Face palm! WHY?!?! haha It was good (painful, for both of us from all of the whining) lesson that once he picks a costume, there is no changing his mind. Besides, he made the best Batman ever!
Look at those poses! haha That one with Lyla's hand on her knee kills me ...
I had to capture the tail because it was her favorite part of her costume. ;)
After they did the loop, our one rule was that we weren't going to eat the candy they got for a few days. Candy quarantine! Instead, we let them each pick a few favorite pieces from our stash before putting it on the porch for the other neighbor kids. They were thrilled with the compromise and at them while watching our favorite, Room on the Broom ...
It was a Halloween we won't forget with this little llama and Batman. <3
