Lyla's nursery tour

I've been so excited to share Lyla's nursery for a while now! Since we didn't have her name picked out before she was born, I had a few projects to finish after we brought her home. If I'm ever having a bad day, I can walk into Lyla's nursery and my mood instantly changes. This space was such a dream for me to put together and it has become my favorite room in our home! Someday I hope to add some curtains and this rug to the space but for now, it is finished and I love it so much!

The first thing we did was paint the entire room white. When we bought our house, it was a speck home but they were far enough along in the process that we really didn't get to choose anything and the one major thing I wish I could change is the sea of tan that we live in. Giving this room a new makeover was the perfect opportunity to change at least one room in our house. It is now Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore!

Probably my favorite thing we added to this room is this light fixture! It looks even more incredible in person!!

This blanket from Petite Haven was Liam's gift to Lyla after she was born, the sweetest little floral pattern ...

Nic and I bought this dresser from a local antique shop on our anniversary this year. It was originally an oak color and he painted it the perfect light blush. I wanted something girly and unique and the scalloped edges and gold key holes make it just that! It has so much character (especially after we replaced the wooden knobs) and I love it that way!

The one thing people love to gift when a baby is born are blankets and Lyla has SO many of them. This basket has been the perfect storage option ...

A girl can never have too many bows and shoes!! ;)

A lot of her cute shoes were gifted or handed down from friends and cousins which make them extra special and several of the bows I made for her before she was born.

My second favorite thing in her room is this Roald Dahl quote draped in my favorite felt ball garland!

Liam's Fire Truck Birthday Party

We had a fire truck birthday party for our favorite 3 year old on Saturday and he was in absolute heaven! Dreams came true the moment he got to sit in the driver's seat of a REAL fire truck ...

We invited a few of Liam's little best friends from our neighborhood to tour the fire station with us and when we pulled up to the building Liam goes, "Mommy Daddy, woo woo's house!!" haha He could not have been more excited and spent the whole tour pointing at everything and jabbering away. It was adorable!!

Definitely his favorite moment from the whole tour ...

Cutest little group of fire fighters there ever was getting their picture taken with the captain!

This little fire fighter has my heart ...

Afterwards we invited everyone back to our house for mini donuts (fire truck wheels), strawberries/oranges/banana (flames), and white chocolate dipped pretzels with red sprinkles (matches).

Liam was obsessed with the pretzels. I think he single-handedly ate three quarters of the jar. haha Also a big fan of the donuts as you can see ...

And then we kept the sugar train going with funfetti cake! ;) #you'rewelcomeparents

It turned out I bought trick candles that relit after Liam blew them out. Oops!

Once the kids were niiiiice and hopped up on sugar, Liam opened his presents. He never let this fire truck balloon out of his sight. Another episode of "It's the little things that entertain kids the most" like cardboard boxes. haha

He had his BEST day and we had the best day celebrating our favorite 3 year old fire fighter! Happy Birthday Buddy!!!

Liam is 3!

Liam turned T H R E E on Friday!! BEST 3 years of our lives! After tucking him into bed as a 2 year old for the last time, I found myself surfing the archives of my blog from his birth until now and the tears fell as memories came flooding back. Time just goes so fast. A few pictures and memories that have been my very favorite along the way ...

On Friday morning, Liam followed a trail of balloons down the hall and into our bedroom where he found his presents waiting for him. He climbed into bed with us (in his Christmas jammies nonetheless! haha The only 2T clothing items that still fit his 3 year old growing self) and couldn't wait to open his first present! Liam's little buddy had his birthday party the week before and opened a "blue beep beep" that Liam has not stopped talking about since! We had already picked out an airplane that came with tools to take it apart but I knew he would be so disappointed if he didn't get that blue beep beep. It felt like Christmas morning watching him open the very first present he has ever asked for and watching his eyes light up as he exclaimed "A BLUE BEEP BEEP!"

The rest of the day was filled with WAY too much sugar. ;) You have to have sprinkles on your banana and mini chocolate donuts (or "crackers" as Liam likes to call them, no idea where he picked that up from!) for your birthday breakfast!

Just living his best life at 3 years old ...

We spent the morning as family at a Jump In chasing him from one bounce house to the next. Sweet Lyla slept through the whole thing. ;)

We ended the day with pizza and setting up for his party on Saturday!

A few things about Liam at 3 years old ...

Favorite number is 2 so whenever he asks for anything it is ALWAYS 2 of something (both pointer fingers in the air!)
Wears 3T clothes and a size 8 shoe.
Says a handful of new words every single day and is finally willing to mimic.
My favorite new phrase ever, "Okay, it's DONE!"
Still calls himself "you".
Can count to ten with the exception of number seven about 50% of the time.
Still a very stubborn eater and rarely willing to try new foods.
His 5 main food groups ... bananas, peanut butter, Greek yogurt, pizza, and applesauce.
Always prefers snacks.
Also still obsessed with any moving vehicle "beep beeps" ... tractors are "crackers", fire trucks/police cars/ambulances "woo woo's", airplanes/helicopters "zooms", and boats "boat". haha
His favorite word is "eyes" and points out everyone and everything who has them.
Loves to rough house with daddy, they are best buddies.
Preschool is his favorite part about Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The best big brother to Lyla, never letting her cry for more than a second.
Loves to watch Blippi, Robo Car Poli, and Daniel Tiger.
Potty trained during the day!
Will choose riding his blue wiggle car around the neighborhood all day every day over anything else.
Tests the boundaries like any typical 3 year old and leaves us feeling defeated some days.
BEST cuddler, always with his 5 favorite blankets in tow to cover him up.
Meow, his stuffed bunny, is his favorite thing in the entire world and doesn't go anywhere without it.
Very stubborn but so sweet.
Has a smile that gets him just about anything he wants and a giggle we'll do anything to hear!

Liam, you are everything we've ever wanted and everything we never knew we needed! We love you more than you will ever know!!

Fall Favorites

Happy Thursday! I see you, Friday ... we're alllmost there!

These last two weeks have felt like the longest weeks. I think a lot of it has to do with being cooped up at home with a newborn and a toddler all of the time. haha My sweet husband gave me an hour out by myself for the first time last Tuesday night and it was the most liberating feeling ever! I hardly knew what to do with myself as I peacefully wandered Hobby Lobby on my own. Speaking of Hobby Lobby, I went there for letters and paint to finish one of my last projects for Lyla's nursery. Can't wait to share her room tour! For now, my finished project and a few other Friday favorites ...

The BEST chocolate chip pumpkin cookies I've EVER had!! When I first read the recipe I kind of rolled my eyes at the many finicky steps they take to make but every recipe I've ever tried has turned out cakey and this truly is the perfect gooey on the inside, crisp on the outside kind of cookie. My fav!! Basically it is worth every single step people!

Favorite flannel and joggers on Liam this fall.

Not necessarily a "fall" favorite but I just learned about this laundry product ... where has this been all of my life?! Takes out every single baby poop and spit up stain. It is giving me life and too good not to share!

And as if I needed any other reason to love October, we marked off our annual visit to the pumpkin patch last weekend. It is something I look forward to every single year! Can't wait to carve those pumpkins in a couple weeks too. Now bring on the weekend! ;)

Pumpkin Patch 2017

Last weekend we held up tradition with our friends and went to the Wild Adventure Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch for the second year in a row. They have the great activities for little kids and Liam had the BEST time! It was Lyla's first adventure and she peacefully slept through the whole thing in the baby wrap. haha I purposefully chose our nicest day (62 degrees!) that we've had this fall but since it was out in the middle of nowhere on a farm AND this is Idaho, the wind was crazy. It made it feel so much colder than we anticipated. Luckily I bundled Lyla but of course still worried about her the whole time.

Liam adored these tube slides. The second they came out the bottom he would shout, "MORE, AGAIN!" Always with that heart breaker smile of his ... Who could ever so no to that face?! ;)

Liam's favorite part of all was this giant sandbox filled with diggers. He spent at least 45 minutes in that thing in absolute heaven. And you can imagine his reaction when he finally had to get out!

Love those "chhhhh" dumping sound effects ...

The most entertaining part watching him were his facial expression whenever another kid joined him in the sandbox and he had to share ANY of the 25 diggers with them. He watched their every move with a side of stink eye! haha

Next, everyone rode these tractor pulled bucket cars around the pumpkin patch! I stayed behind with Lyla as the "camera man".

The cutest little crew ...

The first of many F A L L adventures as a family of four!

So grateful to have the best of friends to enjoy them with!
