{Fall} brought to you by my kitchen table

I decided to force my way out of my slump I had been feeling lately and spent the afternoon with my sewing machine. I've been really wanting a neutral table runner for our kitchen table and it turns out, this is exactly what I had envisioned. I love burlap {even if it makes a HUGE mess} and ruffles. I originally was looking for a plain cream colored fabric for the ruffled center and bottom liner but I found this fabric with the perfect subtle white pattern and I couldn't put it back. The centerpiece idea came from this picture. It was so simple. Just a few sticks, a mason jar, twine wrapped around the top, and rolled flowers from mustard colored paper. Basically it is the perfect addition to my Fall decor. More on that tomorrow :)

Hope you have a lovely Wednesday!

on feeling uninspired

Fall

Have you ever found yourself feeling hopelessly uninspired?
Like this creative side of you decided to take a mini vacation {or in my case, a several weeks vacation} and you don't know how to get out of the "funk" your in.
That's exactly how I have been feeling lately.

I can't even count how many blog posts are sitting in my inbox unfinished.
Some with maybe a sentence, others with only a few words written in them.
My love for writing is still as strong as ever, I just find myself not knowing what to say.
And it isn't even just with blogging, it seems to be spilling over into all aspects of my life.

Take school for example.
I have all the time in the world these days for lesson planning.
I sit down with what should be a perfectly refreshed mind after a good nights sleep and I come up with nothing. Okay not nothing, but nothing that is extremely creative like I usually am able to do.
It just isn't me.

The other day I opened our small but lovely box of Fall decorations and I found myself jotting down little ideas again of things I wanted to create.
I think the changing of the season is good for me and I'm hoping it will be the source for sparking my little flame of inspiration back up again.

I'm thinking about working on one of those little ideas I jotted down tonight so we'll see how it goes....

In the mean time, what inspires you?

Oh hey, remember Labor Day?!

I have been a terrible blogger. {just thought I'd throw that out there in case ya didn't notice} Where does the time go though? Seriously. I meant to post about our Labor Day weekend right when we got back and then I had to catch up on all of the homework I didn't do over the weekend. Then I meant to post it just about every day over the next week but yet again, homework was an issue. Then I meant to post it this last weekend............ and well, you get the picture. I guess what I'm trying to say is school has officially started my friends and I'm not going to complain one bit because it looks nothing like it did last year thankgoodness.

It was so fun to get to spend Labor Day weekend with my mom in Boise. It turned out to be quite the action packed trip. Friday night Nic about died and went to heaven at dinner {Carino's}. Apparently I've been depriving him of pasta for dinner around here.

Saturday we rented bikes and rode them on the greenbelt until we got to the Saturday market downtown. We spent the next hour or so shuffling from one booth to the next, a little too close for comfort with random strangers if you know what I mean. We'd try a sample and be pushed right along so fast that we had NO idea what we were even eating. That's probably not a good thing. ha My two favorite parts... the fresh cut flower stand and of course, the people watching.

After paroosing the booths we went on our merry way and continued our bike ride down the green belt. Right about the time my you know what was screaming from having not ridden a bike in years {kind of like riding a horse... it's an unfortunate experience}, I figured it was about time we turn around. We found a quaint little brick oven pizza place to eat downtown. They even brought our receipt in a vintage can, THE cutest.

Saturday night we drove up to Starlight Mountain Theatre which, for those of you who have never been, is a wooden outdoor theatre up in the mountains. I'd seen the play we went to several years ago but I didn't remember it being so hilarious!

Other than that there was lots of chatting {which poor Nic didn't get a word in edgewise as per usual} and peach crisp eating. It was a glorious weekend indeed.
