the DRESS.

what's the third most exciting thing about getting married??????

That's right!
the DRESS

Top 3 Most Exciting Parts About Getting Married:
1. I get to marry the biggest HUNK in the whole world!
2. the RING
3. the DRESS

I'ts been 7 months now since I got the first two which are both total bliss and then came time for the planning. Over Thanksigivng break I got to go dress shopping with my MOH, MOB, MOG... if you don't know what those are, you're in for a treat when you get to learn "wedding jargon"... Yep, it has a whole language of it's own.
Anyway, I picked my dress at the very first store and one of the first few I tried on.
It's true what they say, try on anything and everything because you never know what you might fall in love with.... SO true for me!

After ordering it, they said it would take up to 5 months!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!?!
I was a little disappointed at first, but a happy camper today when I got the phone call....

it's HERE!!!

3 months earlier than expected! :)

Can't wait for Spring Break to go home and try it on all over again...
Nevermind, can't wait until May 21st when I get to wear it for him :)

Double Date!

On Friday night Nic and I decided it was time to see our great friends Mindy and Beau since it had been forever so we went on a double date!

... I know what you are thinking next, maybe this girl actually took some photos this time, NOPE, forgot the camera yet again... :/ hopefully next time!
Since we are poor college students, we had to choose on of the following:
Eat Out, Play In OR Eat In, Play Out

We settled on Eat In, Play Out!
They made us a yummy dinner...

IT WAS DELICIOUSSS!!

Then, it was up to Nic and I to choose the activity! At first we planned on going bowling until we went to three different alleys and they were already full. Well it would have been great if we had a PLAN B. oops.

We finally came up with something that turned out to be even better than bowling! who knew!

Kickin' it "old school"

(too bad our skates weren't these sweet colors)

That's right! We went roller skating at Deleta! I hadn't been skating in YEARS and I was a little more than shaky at the beginning ha. They had a few different contests, one where there are several numbers on the floor, you stop on a number when the music stops, a wheel is spun, and if you are on the right number... you get a ticket!

Mindy had this genius idea of all of us splitting up on different numbers to up our chances. It worked! We all got a free drink :)

After roller skating we decided to play:

Nic and I had never played before and didn't exactly have beginners luck but it was such a fun game!

After two-rounds of the game Mindy and I played on their IPads (now I am dying to have one) while the boys played 007

Thanks Mindy and Beau for a fun-filled evening!

2011

We are SO happy this year has finally come, the year we get married! It has definitely been long awaited. With four and a half short months left we had A LOT of planning we needed to get done over the break.

Tux's check.
Cake check.
Shoes check.
Bridesmaid Dress (hopefully check).
Centerpieces check.
Napkins check.
And Registered CHECK!

We had so much fun registering, who knew we needed so much stuff!

Nic: "After I scanned you the screen pulled you up as PRICELESS!"

hahah soo cheesy, I couldn't stop laughing after he said that!

He had WAY too much fun with that thing.

I admit, registering was a little overwhelming at first, but it turned out that we had similar taste in everything and weren't one of the other ten couples registering that day arguing over whether or not their house would need art work on the wall..... I mean are you serious. haha

Okay Okay we didn't agree on EVERYTHING.

But there just happened to be only 1 item we did not see eye to eye on.....

The DYSON DC25: a VACUUM.

Ok people this piece of equipment was 500 DOLLARS.

Are you kidding me?!!

There is NO WAY anyone in their right mind is going to want to buy this beast for us off our registry.

Nic seems to think that we HAVE to have it and scanned it of course when I wasn't looking. DAH!!

So we go home and my mom is just about the most frugal person you could meet when it comes to money so I'm thinking, HEY, I'm totally gonna bring this up in front of her and she will take my side. Yeah... I was sorely mistaken.
I just about died when she not only agreed with him but told me that my parents spend $1200 DOLLARS on their vacuum!!
That is just plain crazy to me!!!
Yeah Yeah, I get that it will last longer and (Nic: "AND it only weighs 15 pounds") and yadda yadda but I'm still sticking to my initial reaction.

Dear Dyson DC25, if you are really going to make my future husband that happy... YOU BETTER BE WORTH EVERY PENNY!

Had Ourselves a Merry Little Christmas

I am happy to say this was the last year that Nic and I spent Christmas apart.

For some reason I didn't truly feel the spirit of the season without him with me but I am grateful for the time that I had to spend at home.

Nic drove me home to spend the holidays with my family because I'll admit... after the Thanksgiving experience.. I was terrified to drive the roads alone. Joy to the World we got lucky and had a safe trips without snow both ways! When Nic left Sunday night I was pretty sad and was in need of a little cheering up so my amazing mom did what mom's do best!

We began our holiday baking and made these delicious Reece's peanut butter cup cookies! A first this year but were a TOTAL hit and will now become a holiday tradition of mine.

It had started snowing early in the afternoon but we underestimated exactly how much... We soon discovered it was enough to make a snowman! Now if chocolaty goodness is not enough to cheer a person up building the first snowman of the season is sure to do the trick!

My mom (being the anal person she is) had to immediately shovel the drive way before doing anything further ha wish I could have gotten a picture.

Then we made this muscular creation haha a.k.a. Frosty the Hulk Hogan Snowman!

A few things I could work on

Lets just face it... I'm terrible at keeping up on this blog.

But HEY, atleast I try right?! :)

And although I LOVE taking pictures, I also get a little ADD and forget to bust out the camera during fun festivities.

Both of which I will work on in this new wonderful year.

A recap of Thanksgiving:

Nic's wonderful mom Susan decided to drive down with us to Merville for a fun filled Thanksgiving at my mom's. The drive down and back were both terrifying! Snow + Crazy Drivers + Terrible Roads... not a great combination!! Five hours later, we made it! The trip went by so fast but was so much fun. We played Jenga Truth or Dare, Taboo, ate lots of delicious food, and bought my wedding dress!

The only pictures I took from the whole trip were of these two goofballs when we celebrated Brendan's 19th Birthday
